As the Black Lives Matter movement surged across the U.S. following the police's murdering of George Floyd, I reached out to photographer Maddi Jane Brown to document the protest in Syracuse. I then worked with her to create a succinct edit while navigating the ethical challenges of documenting the movement, such as how we can show demonstrators without pushing them farther into harm's way.
